My Base Routine For The Autumn Transition
We've reached that time of the year where we're not quite out of summer but we're not fully into fall yet either. For makeup, this transitional period can be a little tricky. I like having a base routine that is full coverage and luminous, but it can't be too heavy or it will all just melt off in the last of the heat we've been having here in Missouri. As a compromise, I've found a combination of products that work to give me a flawless complexion but are still suitable for warmer weather.
To start, I moisturize my face and then prime it using Urban Decay's Pore Perfection Complexion Primer Potion. This stuff is amazing for blurring out your pores and giving your skin an "airbrushed" effect. It creates the perfect canvas for the rest of your face products, and makes them last all day long without melting. If you're a fan of Urban Decay's eyeshadow primers then you will definitely love this. Also, you get a lot of product in the tube too, so it lasts quite awhile.
Next, I apply the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia all over my face using a damp beauty blender. My skin is doing quite good at the moment, so this is all I've been needing to cover any imperfections. It's a really good medium-to-full coverage foundation, and you can get more of an opaque finish by building it up. I'm absolutely obsessed with how this makes my skin look. It's light and doesn't feel like you're gooping on a lot of product, but it covers up so much and gives your skin a luminous glow. Definitely worth all of the hype!
While the Sheer Glow Foundation does cover up a lot, it doesn't tend to fully conceal my dark circles, so next I reach for the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer in Light*. This stuff is potent. Just a tiny amount covers up even the darkest of circles, and neutralizes the skin for an even tone. Every time I wear this concealer, it makes my face look like I never had dark circles at all (oh how I wish!). The cool thing about this product is that since it's so powerful, it can also conceal things like acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and rosacea.
To set my face for the day, I gently pat on some of MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light wherever I applied concealer (usually under my eyes, on any acne scars, and around my mouth and nose). I really like this powder because it sets everything nicely without making my makeup look cakey and thick. After that, I just mist on some of the Bliss Get Set & Go Makeup Setting Spray* and then I'm ready for the rest of my makeup.
How are you changing up your base routine for the fall transition?
