Now that the warmer weather is here, I’ve started focusing on ways to make my clean hair last longer. The spring and summer heat has a way of making my hair limp and oily almost overnight, but I hate washing it more than a few times a week because my hair becomes stripped of its natural oils and ends up even unhealthier than before. To remedy this little issue, I’ve got an arsenal of products ready to go for either situation – clarifying shampoos for the days I wash my hair, and detoxing dry shampoos to get me through on the in between days.
My go-to clarifying shampoo has been the Bumble and bumble Sunday Shampoo. I always use this on the weekend (usually Sundays, haha) to get rid of all of the built up products and grime from the week. This really gets your hair squeaky clean, so I recommend only using it once a week in place of your regular shampoo. I just received the Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Shampoo* a few days ago and after one use I can already tell this will be a lifesaver come summer. It got my scalp so fresh and clean thanks to the gentle exfoliation, plus the charcoal really helped detox my hair of all of the excess oils so it felt incredibly healthy for a few days afterwards.
On the days that I’m not washing my hair but still want it to feel nice and clean, I always reach for a dry shampoo. I picked up the First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo by IGK from the spring Sephora sale and have been using it like crazy ever since. This stuff works so well! By day 3, my hair can look pretty greasy, but this dry shampoo is able to make it look like it has been freshly washed and styled. This definitely works some miracles when you want to prolong the period in between washes (plus it just makes your locks feel super healthy). When I’m not needing such an intense clean but still want the volume, I’ll reach from the Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder. This really gives my hair a nice amount of volume while soaking up any excess oil, to the point where I’ll even use it on days when I don’t necessarily need it just because of the added body.
