New Beauty Additions For Spring

New Beauty Additions For Spring

Every time a new season arrives, I like to change up the products that I’m using and introduce some new items into my beauty routine. Now that spring is here, I can start switching out my heavier skincare products for more lightweight options and put aside darker colors in favor of springtime shades like pinks and purples. I’m trying out a fair few new items right now, so I thought I would share with you guys and kind of give my first impressions of the ones I’ve been able to use so far.New Beauty Additions For Spring

Urban Decay recently sent me two of their newest launches to try out. The Backtalk Eye & Face Palette* had been on my radar ever since it was first announced, so when it showed up at my front door I definitely had a minor freak out. The palette is absolutely gorgeous and is filled with all of the colors I typically like to wear. There are pinks, champagnes, rose golds, and browns – all which work quite well together to create a variety of looks. I love that they included such an even mix of mattes to shimmers, so there really is something for everyone in this palette. It’s double-sided and also comes with two blushes and two highlights that compliment the eyeshadow shades very well.

Along with the palette, Urban Decay also sent me their new Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Glosses*, and these have really impressed me so far! They’re super glossy and give your lips a nice wash of color, and they haven’t left my lips feeling goopy at all. I really like the vanilla mint scent as well. It’s something a bit different from all of my other lip glosses (which usually smells like birthday cake) and is a welcome change. The color range they’ve released is really good – there’s a fantastic amount of nude shades, along with some fun, brighter colors and shimmery top coats. So far, I’m really loving the shades Backtalk, Obsessed, Rapture, and 1993.

As I’m sure most of you have already seen, Glossier released new liquid eyeshadows called Lidstars at the beginning of the month. I did my review of four of the shades a few weeks ago, and have been loving them so much that I went ahead and ordered the two colors I didn’t have so I could own the entire collection. The colors I didn’t have were Cub and Lily, and I have to say I’m so glad I went ahead and got them. I was worried I wouldn’t like Cub because the swatches online looked a little dark, but it’s actually the prettiest rose gold shade and I’m completely in love with it. Lily is a beautiful pastel lavender color that is so perfect for this season. I’ve been wearing it all over the lid with a bit of Fawn on the outer corners for some depth and it’s a fantastic combo.

I’ve been using all sorts of new skincare goodies lately (be sure to follow me on Instagram as I’ve decided to start doing quick reviews of everything I test out over there). Caudalie sent me a big bundle of items to try, and I’ve already fallen in love with the S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum* and the Overnight Detox Oil*. I’ve been mixing the two in the evenings and always wake up the next morning with fresh, hydrated skin that has a nice healthy glow to it. I’ve recently started using the Hydrate Nourishing Lotion* from Red Earth as my daytime moisturizer and it’s really quite lovely. I love the herbal scent it has, plus it soaks into the skin rather nicely without too much effort.

On days when my skin is particularly dry or tired looking, I’ve been reaching for the Overnight Hydration Therapy* from ESPA. This has been such a treat for my skin – you just massage it all over your face until it turns white, wait a few minutes for it to soak in, and then go to bed and you’ll wake up to radiantly plump skin! If you’ve been struggling with lackluster skin, I definitely recommend giving this a go.

Sensitive skin is something I’m constantly battling, and it takes a lot of trial and error to find products that won’t cause a rosacea flare up on my cheeks and forehead. Origins recently sent me some products from their new Mega-Mushroom line (a collection of products specifically formulated with sensitive skin in mind), and I’m completely obsessed with it. The Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Advanced Face Serum* and Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion* are probably my favorite things from the collection. Both work amazingly at soothing my skin and protecting it from outside stressors, as well as offering some nice hydration.

I decided to pick up the Photo Focus Foundation from Wet N Wild after seeing it praised several times on Youtube and Instagram. I haven’t had a chance to use this on my face yet, but I did swatch it on the inside of my arm and it looks like a pretty nice foundation considering it’s a drugstore brand and only costs $6. It didn’t really oxidize on my arm which is a huge plus. My only worry is that the lightest shade won’t be light enough for my face, but we will have to see.

The last item I’m trying out this season is the Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Epic*. This is a brand that I’ve been wanting to try for such a long time, and I’m really excited to finally give them a go. This baked highlighting powder looks so intensely gorgeous. It gives the skin a beautiful sheen as well as a slight bit of warmth, so it’s perfect for livening up my pale skin (thanks winter). Illamasqua is currently 20% off at Lookfantastic, so you can save a good amount of money right now while shopping for some new faves.

Oh wow it all looks so beautiful. Especailly the urban decay goodies they are so nice! I’m not keen on the look of the Glossier ones though. If I wanted less pigment I would use less shadow! 🙂
