It dawned on me a few days ago that we’re nearly halfway through the year (yikes!), so I thought it would be a good time to share some of my favorite beauty finds so far. This year has been pretty insane as I’ve had the chance to test out more products than I usually do, and it’s allowed me to discover some absolute gems that I think everybody should get their hands on. I haven’t written a favorites roundup in such a long time, so I’m looking forward to sharing the products I’ve really been loving the last few months!
When I think of favorites, Glossier immediately springs to mind. They’re a brand that I’m incredibly passionate about, and so many of their products have quickly become favorites of mine. This has been a really great year for Glossier launches. Solution came out and immediately became a staple in my skincare routine. This is actually my second bottle of the stuff because I got my mom to try it and she ended up confiscating my first bottle, haha. I’ve written a full review on Solution here, but just know that it is so good.
Then there was the release of the Lidstars at the Oscars, which was such a fun night for all of the reps. I’ve been using the different Lidstar shades almost daily because they’re a lazy girl’s dream for a quick and effortless eye look. I also love that I never have to use a primer with these because they just don’t crease. They’re ideal for when you’re traveling or in a rush. The latest Glossier launch was the Lash Slick mascara, another instant favorite for me because it provides such amazing results. It’s lightweight, incredibly lengthening, and lasts all day long without smudging or crumbling. Basically, it’s lash extensions in a tube, and I wear it whether I’m running errands in sweatpants or getting dressed up to go out.
Skincare has definitely become a bit of an obsession for me this year. I’ve been trying product after product in the search for which ones actually live up to their claims, and boy have I discovered some good ones. First there’s Pixi’s Peel & Polish*. If you’re suffering from dry, dull skin and in need of some exfoliation, go buy this right now. It combines chemical and physical exfoliants to full remove any dead skin cells on your face, and every time I use it my complexion is instantly brighter and feels completely smooth.
Fresh makes my favorite lip balms, and in February they released a few new shades that I’ve really been loving. The Sugar Advanced Therapy Balm in Dream* has been my go-to for the past few months. It’s the same formula as their original Advanced Therapy Balm, but this one has a beautiful pinky tint to it that looks lovely on the lips.
For the body, I’ve been completely obsessed with the Body Yogurts from The Body Shop (as I’m sure you know since I’ve already written about these before). Their gel-like texture allows them to absorb so quickly, with absolutely no greasy residue left behind. Now that summer is almost here, I’ve been reaching for these most days when I get out of the shower to keep my skin hydrated without weighing it down.
I’ve recently discovered a base combo that has been making my skin look so freaking good, and both products have really become stand out favorites for me. First, I’ll apply the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream in Fair all over my face. I’ve been loving this as a foundation because it makes my skin look fresh and glowing, and helps even out any blotchiness in my skin tone. Once that’s on, I’ll set it using some of the Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder from BECCA. This stuff is so cool! It actually feels kind of wet when you put it on, and it just melts in with your foundation to create a solid base that stays put all day. I also like using this to touch up throughout the day if I need to – it’s a really nice way to refresh that face and help the look of your makeup after several hours of wear.
Highlighters are probably my favorite part of makeup. I’m constantly trying out new ones, and have discovered a new favorite that I’m absolutely in love with. The Amrezy Highlighter from Anastasia Beverly Hills gives off such a fantastic glow! I usually don’t wear gold highlighters because they tend to show up weird on my super pale skin, but this one is such a unique “white gold” shade that actually looks amazing on my skin. I love reaching for this when I want a blinding highlight, especially for the tip of my nose and right between my eyes.
My last favorite of the year so far goes to Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in Backtalk. This has become my favorite lipstick shade to wear when I’m wanting something a little more exciting than my usual nude-pink lip. Backtalk is a beautiful mauve pink shade, and for me it’s one of those “your lips but better” shades that just suits my complexion perfectly. The other thing I really like about this lipstick is the comfort matte formula. It feels so nice on the lips, is fully opaque in just one swipe, and wears so long throughout the day.
