Another month, another roundup of what’s in my makeup bag. I really love doing this post each month because it pushes me to be creative and use different products in my collection. I’m the type of person who will just use the same products over and over again once I find things I like, so this feature allows me to keep things fresh. For February, I’ve been really focused on fresh, hydrated skin with a dewy sheen, smoky champagne eyes, and little pops of berry. Since its Valentine’s Day month, I’ve enjoyed infusing a bit of a romantic look into my everyday makeup.
My base products have been pretty similar to last month’s. I’m still using the Glossier Priming Moisturizer before applying any makeup as I really like how it creates a nice smooth base for other products. My foundation is still a mix of two products, but this time I’ve swapped out The Ordinary’s Coverage Foundation for Glossier’s Skin Tint in Light. When mixed with the NYX Total Control Drops in Pale, it creates a really good base that is both medium-to-full coverage as well as hydrating. I do have to use a little bit of setting powder (Glossier’s Wowder comes in handy for this, of course), but a light dusting still allows me to look dewy and not cakey.
Boy Brow is still my go-to for natural-looking brows that still appear groomed and shaped. I showcased this bad boy in a little “get ready with me” for my Instagram story the other day, and had so many people message me about how good it made my brows look. It really is a miracle worker for fast, flawless brows, and I can’t recommend it enough.
I stumbled across a NARS product on Amazon that I was able to get for really cheap. I’ve been using it to highlight and bronze with, and I’ve actually really been loving it. The Dual-Intensity Blush in Craving has been perfect for brightening up my complexion and giving it some life. I usually don’t go for anything other than matte bronzers, but there’s something about this one that is just so pretty. It doesn’t have big chunks of glitter in it, but instead gives the skin a nice healthy, warm flush. Also, the highlighter! It’s such a pretty pearl shade that melts into the skin for the perfect dewy glow.
For my cheeks, I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze. It’s been my go-to shade recently, and I’ve been loving it on it’s own, mixed with other cloud paints, and even as a subtle stain for the lips. I really love how it adds a nice berry flush to the cheeks. The cool thing about the Cloud Paints is that once they’re blended out, they don’t look like you’re wearing blush on top of your cheeks, but rather that your actual skin is infused with the color. They create such a natural look!
I’ve been using a new eyeshadow combo for my eyes that is so subtle yet stunning, plus it takes hardly any effort at all. First, I go in with the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige as a bit of a primer for the lid, as well as to add some slight definition. I just use my finger for this and apply it all over the lid as well as a tiny but along the outer corner of my lower lash line, blending out the edges as I go. Next, I’ll take some of the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Dione and pat it right in the center of my eyelid. This really helps create the illusion of bigger, brighter eyes, and I love how easy it is to achieve.
Depending on my mood, I might add a subtle cat eye using the Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner. This is my holy grail liquid liner – it’s so pigmented but dries down quickly so you don’t get it all over your eye, and you’re able to get the most precise, sharp wing pretty effortlessly. If I’m not wanting to wear a cat eye for the day, I’ll instead just grab the Colourpop Swerve Liner and smudge it out along my top lash line, as well as tightlining to create the effect of fuller lashes.
Speaking of lashes, can we just talk about how amazing L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise Mascara is? I tried it on again the other day after rediscovering it in my makeup drawer, and I’ve kind of been obsessing over it. I swear, the drugstore is really killing it with the mascara formulas lately. This one and Maybelline’s Lash Sensational are both so incredible, do we really even need high end mascaras anymore?
The final part of my everyday look is, of course, lips. I swear by Glossier’s Balm Dotcom for intense hydration and keep a tube of it in my makeup bag as a little “before” step to help prime my lips for other products. This month, I’ve been jumping back and forth between two lip colors, depending on what look I’m going for. On days that I want a simple, nude pout, I’ll reach for the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm. This is the prettiest pinky nude shade that actually works with my pale complexion instead of washing me out. Also, it feels incredible on the lips and doesn’t dry them out like other matte lip products tend to do.
The lovelies over at Clarins recently sent me their Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector* in Plum, and it’s safe to say I’m completely hooked. The soft wash of color can be worn sheer or built up to a more opaque berry tone, it’s incredibly hydrating and nourishing, and it doesn’t feel goopy or sticky on the lips (a huge pet peeve of mine). They have a few other shades like Rose, Red, and Rosewood that I’m definitely interested in trying out next.
