Glossier Lash Slick Mascara | Review & Swatches
I’m sure if you were on social media at all yesterday you probably saw Glossier’s newest launch, Lash Slick. I’ve been waiting for them to come out with a mascara for such a long time, so this launch has definitely been an exciting one and probably one of my favorites. Mascara has long been one of those products that I’ve yet to find a holy grail for, despite trying numerous offerings from an array of brands. I’ve definitely found a few that I love, but I still feel like there could be something out there that’s just better than the rest. Could Lash Slick be the one? Keep reading to find out.

What Is It & What Does It Do?

Lash Slick* is Glossier’s bid at creating the perfect everyday mascara. The claims are that this black mascara curls and sculpts as it lengthens, enhancing the look of your natural lashes instead of clumping them together or spackling them in product. Teeny-tiny fibers coat lashes from root to tip to create a lengthened baby-extension, while flexible film-forming polymers lift and lock each fiber into place. And it’s water-resistant (not waterproof), so Lash Slick washes off easy with warm water at the end of your day.

This mascara is meant to give more of an everyday, casual look to the lashes. The concept came from Glossier’s customers: a natural-looking mascara that delivers what Boy Brow does for brows, but for lashes. The effect: long, conditioned eyelashes that are wispy, fanned, and defined.

Product Specifics

Lash Slick is a black mascara that comes in a super cute Glossier pink component. You get 8.5 g/0.29 oz of product in the container, and the cost is a very affordable $16 US/$20 CAD/£14 GBP. The wand has tiered plastic bristles and a precise tip that separates the top and bottom lashes at the root, ensuring a full application even for the tiny bottom lashes. The formula contains a unique Japanese Fiber Technology: One and two millimeter-long curved fibers hook onto lashes, adding length with results similar to extensions. There’s also ingredients like vegan biotin to condition/strengthen and natural shine polymers to enhance the formula’s black pigments, so lashes are extra shiny and sleek.

An All Day Wear Test

Glossier was kind enough to send me Lash Slick to try out for a few days before the big launch, so I knew I had to do a full day wear test to really see if stood up to all of its claims. When I first applied it, I noticed how lightweight the formula is. It’s the perfect mix of wet and firm, so it really coats all of your lashes without being messy and getting everywhere. The formula dried pretty quickly, which made applying a second coat super easy because I didn’t have to wait as long in between coats. Whenever I try a new mascara I always skip curling my lashes because I want to see just how good the formula will be.

I checked in on my lashes every few hours throughout the day and was incredibly surprised by how amazingly well this mascara held up. Usually mascaras tend to melt or smudge underneath my eyes after a few days, but this did not melt at all. It didn’t even flake off or crumble like most mascaras end up doing by mid-day. I even took a nap and there were only two tiny little flakes on my cheek, which is way better than what I was expecting to wake up to. By the end of the day, my lashes still looked as good as they had that morning. The mascara hadn’t worn away at all, and my eyelashes looked long, curled, and defined even 12+ hours after application. (Check out my Instagram stories for shots of the mascara in use at the beginning of the day as well as right before taking it off before bed.)

Pros & Cons

For cons, there were only a few minor things that I had issues with. First, I think one coat is pretty subtle and I personally like the look of two coats better for more volume, but I do like that we have that option to build it up without the overall effect of the mascara changing and looking worse. The only other con I can think of is that I was the packaging felt a little heavier because that always feels more “expensive” to me, but honestly that’s just me being nit-picky.

In terms of positives, I have to say I’m absolutely loving this mascara! I know you might think I’m just saying that because I’m a rep, but trust me – I’m picky as hell with my mascaras, and if a formula doesn’t work I will be the first to tell you. Once again, Glossier has just gotten so many things right when it comes to a specific makeup product. This separated each of my lashes, gave them crazy amounts of length (we’re talking extension-worthy length, people), curled them without the need of any additional tools and kept them curled all day long…the pros go on and on and on. Lash Slick didn’t flake off or crumble, melt under my eyes, smudge while I was applying, or clump my lashes together for a messy look. Also, something I have to mention – this formula feels so lightweight! Usually when I apply two coats of mascara, my lashes feel really heavy and clumpy, almost like I’ve got falsies on. With this, two coats felt light as air and extremely comfortable all day long.

Will you be giving Glossier Lash Slick a try?

This is a great review. I’ve been hearing a lot about this brand, but I’ve never tried it. However, if I do decide to give Glossier a try, I’ll probably have a small haul and this will be one of the products I buy.
