This post is in partnership with Pitch Perfect 3. All opinions are my own.
Happy Friday! There’s nothing better than a fun girls night in to celebrate the start of the weekend, and that’s exactly what I have planned for tonight. I’m hosting a little movie night at my place to watch Pitch Perfect 3 (which just came out on Blu-ray with new musical performances, gag reel, and extended scenes not seen in theaters!), and I thought it would be super fun to share my tips and essentials for the perfect night in so you can do the same this weekend!
A fun night in definitely requires some tasty snacks. Since it’s the weekend, I usually like to indulge a bit. For a movie night, popcorn is absolutely a must. I love having a few varieties like butter and caramel or kettle corn. Sometimes I’ll even get a little creative and mix up some popcorn flavorings of my own. Then there’s the matter of candy. If you’re going to have a movie night, having some movie theater candy on hand is always a good idea. I tend to reach for things that are chewy and fruity since they pair so well with salty popcorn. If you’re hosting people for the evening, it’s probably a good idea to get a few different types of candy or snacks so everyone can find something to enjoy.
Of course, what kind of girls night in would it be without some hilarious entertainment? I’m so excited because Pitch Perfect 3 just came out on Blu-ray, and it will be the featured film for my little get-together tonight! If you haven’t seen any of the films, they basically revolve around a girls acapella singing group and the competitions they enter. The cast is made up of hilariously funny female actors like Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Elizabeth Banks, and both of the first two movies had moments that left me in tears from laughing so much. If you’re a fan of female-led comedies with lots of fun songs, these movies are definitely for you. I’m so excited to sit down and watch (aka sing along with) the third installment tonight!
Along with delicious snacks, I think its super important to have some fun drinks to go along with the night’s festivities. I got really inspired by the release of Pitch Perfect 3 and decided to create a tasty cocktail in honor of the new film. I’ve really been loving fruity beverages lately, so I decided to go with a slight variation on a classic mojito.
“Boozy Bella” Raspberry Mojito Recipe
- Raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- Fresh mint
- Ginger ale (or club soda)
- White rum
- Ice cubes
Muddle 6 mint leaves and 5-6 raspberries in the bottom of your glass. Next, add desired amount of ice cubes. Pour in 1-2 ounces of white rum (depending on how boozy you like your Bella), and top it off with ginger ale of club soda. You can also add some frozen raspberries and extra mint leaves for garnish, and enjoy!
Depending on your preferences or who you’re hosting, you can definitely make a non-alcoholic version of this by omitting the rum. I personally can’t drink because of certain medications, so I made mine alcohol-free and they were still super delicious! The mix of fresh mint and raspberries with bubbly soda is so refreshing, and makes quite a fun party drink.
In my opinion, one of the whole points of having a girls night in is to relax and have fun. The night is supposed to be casual, so I make sure to dress as relaxed as possible – hair up, makeup off, and my most comfy clothes. I usually like to rock a loose t-shirt and yoga pants, along with some fluffy socks or slippers. Maybe not the most glamorous of attire, but it’s incredibly comfortable and works for the evening.
My last essential for the perfect girls night in is definitely some pampering. After a long, tiring week, who doesn’t enjoy a relaxing spa night at home? When I’m having a night in, I love going all out when it comes to having a pamper – sheet masks, hair oils, skin treatments, a full mani/pedi…the works! For tonight, I’ve got the Pitch Perfect 3 Collection Set* from Live Love Polish to play around with, and I’m trying to decide between Last Call Confetti and Pitches For Life – which one do you guys think should I go with?
Don’t forget to check out Pitch Perfect 3, now available on Blu-ray. The weekend is nearly here, which is the perfect excuse to pick up a copy for yourself so you can have your own girls night in! Once you’ve watched it, let me know which of the three films was your favorite. I really love the second one, but I have a feeling this one may become my new favorite. I’m excited for tonight so I can watch it!
