Guess what? It’s my birthday! Today starts the last year of my 20s – something that I’ve been a little unsettled about. However, after receiving some kind comments on Instagram about how age is just a number and your 30s are when you really start living, I’ve decided to embrace this final year and enjoy every moment of it. To kick the celebrations off, I’m getting a bit dressed up including some fun birthday makeup that I’ve put together for the special day.
All of my base products for the day are the same ones from my January Makeup Edit post, so I’m not going to worry about explaining that part again. The changes start with my cheeks – a combo I’ve really been loving lately is combining Glossier’s Cloud Paints in the shades Haze and Dusk. This creates a really pretty custom color that gives a nice flush to the cheeks, plus it goes great with the overall look I have planned for today.
Since I’m so incredibly pale during this time of year, I’ll be using Benefit’s Hoola Lite to give my face a little warmth and dimension. This is such a great contour shade because it’s actually cool-toned (which is so rare to find in a bronzer), plus it has a nice buttery texture that blends out beautifully for a rather flawless finish. My makeup goal for the day is to shine brighter than a birthday candle, so I’m using Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal to highlight every acceptable area of my face. This is seriously one of my all-time favorite highlighters ever because it gives the skin such a beautiful blinding glow.
I’m keeping my eyes simple yet shimmery for the day by using the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Rigel all over the lid. This is a great one-wash shade, and there’s really nothing better than metallic rose gold for a quick birthday eye look. I’ve decided to forgo my usual liquid liner in favor of a few thick coats of Tarte’s Maneater Mascara. This is something I’ve been doing a lot lately as I’ve found myself falling more and more in love with this mascara. It really builds up nicely on the lashes after a few coats, so you’re able to skip liner without sacrificing definition.
For my lips, it wouldn’t be an official birthday without my favorite Glossier Balm Dotcom in Birthday! This cupcake-scented, sparkle-filled lip balm is what I’ll be using to keep my lips hydrated all day long, as well as a light primer for my lip color of choice. It was difficult deciding on which color I wanted to wear for today, but I’ve finally decided on the YSL Oil-In-Stick Lipstick in 44 Nude Lavalliere. I’m so in love with this lipstick right now! It’s super hydrating and the prettiest pinky nude shade, so it’s incredibly easy to wear and looks good with everything.
