The Beauty Tips That I Swear By | A Girl, Obsessed

There is all kinds of beauty advice out there on the internet. I learn new tips and tricks almost daily thanks to sites like Pinterest and the beauty blogs I read. I’ve learned over time to not expect every tip to work for me – it’s very subjective, and some things that work for one person might not work for me. Today I thought I’d share the beauty tips that have worked for me, and that I’d be a little lost without.

The Beauty Tips That I Swear By

  • Regularly clean your pillowcases so you’re not sleeping on built up oil and dirt from your hair and skin
  • Taking the time to use a really good base coat and top coat actually is important
  • If you have dry skin, always use a moisturizer before applying makeup
  • Keep your face mists in the fridge for an extra refreshing skin treat
  • Use your ring finger when applying eye cream or blending out concealer under the eyes – it’s much more gentle and is less likely to cause wrinkles
  • Mascara really needs to be thrown away after 3 months because there is such a high chance of getting an eye infection
  • Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove any extra buildup in your hair from hairsprays and dry shampoos
  • Its better to invest in quality skincare products so you don’t have to use as much makeup
  • Applying a little bit of highlighter to your cupid’s bow will make your lips appear fuller
  • If you suffer from frizzy, dry hair or static, invest in a good hair oil or serum to help with flyaways
  • Neutral makeup is always a safe bet because it looks flattering on anyone, for any occasion.
  • For dewy-looking skin, use highlighters and cream makeup products
  • Investing in high quality products, though sometimes more expensive, will make you happier than just purchasing whatever is being hyped or on sale at the moment

Such amazing tips, I love these sort of posts because there is always something new to learn in beauty and knowing the tips & tricks can make life so much easier. I always change my pillowcase regularly, but definitely think I am going to start keeping my face mists in the fridge and using my ring finger to blend under my eyes – anything we can do to stop wrinkles! Thanks for the tips!

I’d also like to add that quality skincare products don’t necessarily mean expensive from what I’ve found. When I was in Australia, one of the best face washes and moisturisers I found was actually a supermarket brand; I’ve found in the past that buying named expensive goods doesn’t necessarily mean they’re of a higher quality. Clearasil never worked for me when I was younger, but it worked on other people, so as you said, everything is completely subjective. I really do love this list though, and the moisturiser before makeup is one I need to practise more often, as during these Winter months my skin is becoming so much more drier than it usually is and I’ve never had that many problems with my skin before. Cleaning my makeup brushes is also something that I like to do as often as I can (which reminds me)

A good base coat and top coat has become my mantra! I never used to use a base coat and with always having nail polish on my nails were really stained and horrible, since using a base coat and actually taking time to care for my nails I will never look back!

Great tips, agree with all of them. I think mine would be to regularly wash your brushes, not only do you keep bacteria at bay but you also get a better makeup application with a good ol’ clean brush.

Definitely agree with regularly washing your pillow cases – not only does it make me feel fresh, but I swear it helps me sleep better too. Win win!

oooh, keeping your facial mists in the fridge sounds like such a good idea! My swear by makeup tip is probably: it’s easier to add more than take away, so work in small layers and build up! Learnt that the hard way….

I never thought about putting face mists in the fridge, but that is such a good idea! I’ll have to remember that one for summer, as it’ll be so helpful! Thanks for sharing xx

I would also add that keeping makeup brushes and makeup sponges clean helps a LOT with keeping breakouts away, because we aren’t spreading makeup alongside bacteria and germs.

Thank you for this lovely post! <3

    Thanks for all these tips!
Clarifying shampoo and hair serums are on my to buy list.

As per my doctors recommendations, I have been taking milk thistle vitamins daily which has helped clear up my skin issues. I wouldn’t take without consulting with your doctor but it’s a game changer for me!
