Sometimes I feel like being a beauty blogger comes with a stigma that we’re supposed to know everything when it comes to beauty, makeup, and application techniques. If I’m being completely honest, there are actually quite a few beauty-related things that I’ve yet to perfect, but that’s something I’d really like to change this year. There are a few beauty techniques that I’m not the greatest at, and my goal is to practice them like crazy over the next few months until I get them just right.
Contouring has always been one of those things that I’m okay at, but I’ve never felt super confident with my skills. I’m not too bad at contouring the sides of my face because my cheekbones are already so pronounced, but I’d really like to get better around my forehead and especially my nose. One thing I’ve found that’s really helped is finding a contour product that’s more cool-toned. A lot of people use bronzers which are actually for adding warmth, so these tend to have an orange cast to them. When contouring, what you’re wanting to mimic is shadows so you’ll get a more realistic look when you use a cool-toned product.
I’m horrible at lining my lips. I don’t know if it’s because my top lip is naturally thin or if maybe my lips are uneven, but it’s just never been something I’ve been good at. I’ve watched so many tutorials on Youtube so I think I just need more practice to get it right, but if you guys have any tips for properly using lip liner, I would greatly appreciate your help.
Towards the end of last year, I tried wearing false lashes for the first time and I really like how they made my eyes look. They only lasted about an hour before they started unsticking and peeling off though, so I definitely need to perfect my application technique. I’m a little confused about a few things… Am I supposed to use a tiny amount of glue? A thicker strip of it? Do the lashes need to stick to my eyelids or to my actual lashes? Clearly I need some help with this, haha.
The last beauty technique I’d like to perfect this year is blending. I know this isn’t a particularly difficult thing to do, but it’s something I’ve always felt I was a little lacking in. From all of the advice that I’ve read, you can never blend too much so I think I just need to take a little extra time to blend out my eye makeup when I’m applying my makeup.
Are there any beauty techniques you’d like to perfect?
