I’ve read blog post after blog post about fun things to do around town, places to visit, things to see…but you know what? I’m a total introvert. Most of the time I’d much rather chill at home instead of spending late nights out, and I’d bet a million dollars that I’m not alone. So, I thought it would be fun to create a little guide on how to spend an awesome night at home.
First (and most importantly), get out of those stuffy day clothes and put on something comfy! Pajamas are preferred, but really anything you can lounge around in is fine. Right now my go-to loungewear is yoga capris, an oversized tee, and a big cozy cardigan for when it’s cold. This outfit is so comfy to wear, especially with a nice pair of slippers.
If you’re like me, you love to pamper yourself whenever you get the chance. I love doing little at-home spa nights once a week (at least, haha). I always make sure to have yummy-smelling lotions and body butters on hand, as well as sheet masks, foot masks, and lip balms. Taking some time at night to take care of your body is a great way to de-stress and relax, and spending a fun night at home is a great excuse for a nice pamper.
I have a bit of a weakness for watching back-to-back episodes of my favorite shows until I get through an entire season, usually watching whole seasons in just a couple nights. Orange Is The New Black, Orphan Black, American Horror Story…they were each watched in like 72 hours. Nights in are the perfect time to start a new series or watch that movie you’ve been wanting to see.
What kind of solo party would it be without some tasty treats? Take the night off from your super strict diet and indulge in a snack or two. I love baking a small batch of oatmeal cookies, but you can also get especially homemade and make some popcorn from scratch! Don’t forget drinks as well. Depending on your preferences and what night of the week it is, think about mixing up a favorite cocktail or two. You can also opt for something a little more cozy like hot cocoa made on the stove with lots of mini marshmallows.
About an hour or so before bed, turn the lights down, play some soft music (Enya is my favorite), and curl up with a good book. Include pets in this if you’d like – furry snuggles are the best! Reading helps calm the mind down and gets you ready for a full night of sleep.
How do you like to spend your nights at home?
