This time of the year is usually when I notice quite a few people taking breaks from their blogs. While a week or two off from blogging can be a really therapeutic thing, I know from personal experience that getting back into blogging after a break isn’t always so easy. The whole topic of starting to blog again after some time away is never really discussed, so I thought it might be helpful to share a few tips on how to get back into the mindset and routine of regular blogging like you never even left.
5 Tips For Getting Back Into Blogging
Plan | Start brainstorming content ideas, and create an editorial calendar so you know what posts are coming up for the week/month. Also, consider setting a few attainable goals for the next month or two.
Re-assess your blog’s focus | Determine if you’re happy with the focus of your blog or if it needs to be updated. If so, decide what topics you’d like to write about, and maybe come up with a new feature or series you’d like to test out.
Become inspired | Search for new forms of inspiration (I love using Pinterest, Tumblr, and Bloglovin’ for this). A few other ideas would be to start reading some of your favorite blogs again, participate in a Twitter chat, and talk to other blogger friends.
Tidy up your blog | Get rid of any clutter or anything that doesn’t matter to you anymore, especially in your sidebar. Update any stats or information that might be outdated, upload a fresh profile pic, and try out a new layout if you’re feeling especially bored.
Keep it simple | Remind yourself why you started and why you’re coming back. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and make sure that at the end of the day you’re blogging because it truly makes you happy.
