3 Ways To Disguise Dirty Hair

3 Ways To Disguise Dirty Hair | A Girl, Obsessed

There are just some mornings where you wake up late with dirty hair, and you don’t have a time to jump through the shower. It’s happened to all of us, and it can cause quite a headache when you’re trying to look your best but don’t have enough time to get ready the way you’d like. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to easily disguise dirty hair on mornings where you’re too rushed for a wash.

Use A Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo is an absolute life saver and has fixed my hair on more occasions than I can count. What I’ll usually do it apply it all around my roots when I first wake up so that by the time I go to fix up my hair, the powder has absorbed most of the oil and dirt in my hair, making it look leagues better than it did when I first awoke. An old staple has been Bumble and bumble’s Prêt-à-Powder. I love this stuff for getting rid of any oiliness as well as giving my hair a nice boost of volume. A new one that I just recently tried and have already fallen in love with is the OGX Protecting + Silk Blowout Blow Dry Extend Dry Shampoo*. My hair is super dark so I usually struggle with getting a white cast on my hair from most dry shampoos. With this one however, it didn’t leave any white residue on my hair and actually left my locks feeling quite thick and bouncy.

Pop A Pony

An easy hairstyle to go with that hides that fact that your hair is a little less than fresh is definitely a ponytail. There are so many different variations that you can go with as well – a messy bun, milkmaid braids, a Khloe Kardashian-inspired high pony…you name it! What I like to do is throw in some dry shampoo so my hair has some nice volume for whatever look I’m going for, and then I’ll go back in with a bit of hairspray to tidy up and flyaways and really make the hairstyle look polished.

Add A Cute Accessory

If all else fails, you can never go wrong with a cute accessory. I love using things like headbands, hats, fabric scarves, and beanies to cover up dirty hair. Since any greasiness usually stays near the roots, you can easily curl the bits of hair not covered up by your hat or scarf. This will really help give the illusion that your hair is freshly styled and people will be none the wiser.

I always spray a little bit of dry shampoo (especially on the back of my scalp for some reason), and then plait my hair when it’s greasy! It’s like my go to!
