Each season, I try to add a few new pieces to my wardrobe to replace anything old and unused. Winter is one of my favorite seasons for fashion because I love layering and bundling up in cozy clothes, so shopping for a few additional pieces is always fun. I took advantage of some of the Black Friday and after-Christmas sales at a few of my favorite stores, and found some really great wardrobe additions.
I feel like you can never have too many chunky knits in your closet. They’re versatile and always in style, plus they’re just damn comfortable to wear. I love big, oversized cardigans and found a couple of cute ones (at Walmart of all places) that are nice and chunky, and actually quite high quality for the price. Cardigans are great for layering over t-shirts or dainty blouses like camisoles, and can be easily dressed up or down depending on how you accessorize. Along with cardigans, I also love a good chunky sweater. JC Penney’s had a great sale running during the holiday season, and I was able to get a new scalloped trim sweater as well as a few basic long sleeve shirts that are perfect to wear underneath.
When I’m not making my own hats, I love shopping ASOS for cute new winter accessories. Their hat section has just been so good these past few months, and I’ve been able to snatch up a few knitted beanies that work so well with the majority of my winter outfits (also, the keep my head so warm and are perfect for bad hair days). If you’re looking for something a little more budget-friendly, Forever 21 also has a decent selection that’s usually a bit more affordable.
Ankle boots will forever be my staple shoe in the wintertime. They give my feet protection for the elements without being big and clunky, and come in so many gorgeous styles. A couple weeks ago I ordered a fresh black pair from ASOS that look absolutely stunning for this season (it was between those and this pair from Forever 21, but I decided to go with black since it’s a more prominent color in my wardrobe). I also have a taupe pair of ankle boots that my mom gifted me last Christmas from K-Mart (pictured above), and I have to say that though they come from a cheaper department store, they’re ridiculously well made and I absolutely love them.
Have you added anything new to your winter wardrobe lately?
