Summer is the perfect opportunity to reward ourselves with a little “me time.” What with less commitments and a more relaxed schedule, summer is the perfect excuse to take some time off for ourselves, even if it’s only for a few minutes each week. There are all kinds of things you can do during your “me time” to chill out and have fun. If you’re stuck for ideas, here are a few of my favorite activities that put the focus on “me.”
Flip Through A New Magazine
One of my favorite ways to spend some me time is by relaxing on the couch with a new magazine or two. I love reading magazines, especially when looking for new inspiration or ideas. There’s just something about having a fresh magazine in my hands that makes me so happy, no matter if it’s about beauty, weddings, fashion, home decor, or cooking. While I was doing my weekly shopping at Food 4 Less, I decided to pick up the newest issue of Real Simple while checking out. This is one of my favorite magazines to read through because it has a great mix of interior design, lifestyle, and recipes – three topics that I always love reading about (plus all of that visual inspiration!). There were also new issues of PEOPLE, Southern Living, and PEOPLE Princess Diana: Twenty Years Later on the magazine stands, and I’ll probably get my hands on them soon for future “me time” sessions. If you’re wanting to pick one of these magazines up for yourself, click here to get $1 off when you shop at your local Kroger or Kroger-owned store. (If you don’t live near a Kroger, you can also get the savings at Bakers, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food & Drug, Gerbes, Jay C, King Sooper, Owens, Pay Less, QFC, Ralph’s, or Smith’s.)
Have A Little Pamper
Taking some time to pamper myself is, of course, a favorite activity of mine. Sometimes it can be as simple as giving my nails a fresh coat of polish, but that simple act allows me to relax a bit and feel like I’m taking care of myself. When I’m really wanting a good pamper (or feeling particularly stressed), I’ll pull out all the stops – bubble bath, face masks, body scrubs, mani/pedi, hair treatments…you name it, I’ll do it. There’s no better treat after a hot summer day than a pamper evening with all my favorite goodies.
Spend Some Time Outdoors
The final summer activity I love is simply spending some time outdoors. Most of the day can be really hot outside, but the early mornings are perfect for a cool walk around your neighborhood, and there’s nothing quite like relaxing on your front porch in the evenings with a cold glass of iced tea and a good book or magazine. Getting some fresh air is great for both your physical and mental health, especially when you pair it with a little exercise or sunshine.
What are your favorite things to do during the summer to enjoy a little “me time”?
