How To Get Summer-Ready Hair At Home

Yesterday we talked about how to keep your hair healthy for the season, and today I’m back with some fun ways to get summer-ready hair at home! There are so many fun things you can do to spruce up your current ‘do or to change it completely. Whether you don’t like to spend too much time on your hair or love giving it all your attention, here are some ways to get a summer-inspired hairdo without needing to go to a salon.

Change Your Color

One of my favorite things to do each summer is to change up my hair color. Sometimes I’ll go red, other times it’ll be a warm mahogany…whatever I decide, it’s a great way to enjoy a little summer fun. Whenever dying my hair, I think that it is absolutely crucial to invest in a product that is going to give me quality color and long-lasting results. Sure I can go with the cheapest option available, but I guarantee I’ll be needing another dye job in just a couple weeks and my hair is likely to feel damaged. Instead of wasting time, money, and my hair’s precious health, I invest in a professional quality hair color that will give me brilliant results that actually last.

My favorite is the Schwarzkopf Keratin Color for so many reasons – it comes in a wide array of beautiful colors, is super easy to use, fully covers gray hairs, and makes my hair incredibly shiny and healthy afterwards (plus, it doesn’t make my whole house stink of strong chemicals). I love that I can always find it easily at my local Walmart, and am able to get a box for less than $10! Compared to getting my hair done at a salon, it is much friendlier on the wallet. This summer, I decided to go with a dark black ( Onyx Black 1.0 to be exact) and I’m in love with how it pops against my pale skin. Pick A Fun Style

There are so many cute hairstyles to try these days (thanks Pinterest!), and summer is the perfect time to get experimental. If you’ve got medium or long hair, you know how hot it can be to leave it down all day. Instead of just throwing it up in a boring ponytail, have some fun trying different styles! I’m a huge fan of the “space buns” hairstyle that is super popular right now, as well as maiden braids and teased high ponies. If you do insist on wearing your hair down, definitely try something cute and easy like beachy waves. Simply spritz some sea salt spray all throughout your hair after jumping out of the shower, give it a few scrunches, let it air dry, and you’re good to go! This is a really easy look that you can wear most days, and it looks effortlessly beautiful on everyone.

Add Accessories

Another great way to quickly jazz up your hair for summer is by adding some cute accessories. I love pairing hairstyles with accessories – a loose side braid with a big floppy hat, space buns with a cute headband, a high ponytail with a few hair bows, etc. Whatever you decide to go with, think about matching it with you makeup or outfit for a more cohesive look.
