Home decor has always been a passion of mine, but over the past year that passion has turned into a bit of an obsession. I’m constantly on Pinterest saving home styling ideas, and have had a blast decorating my first little home. Each season, I try to give my home a little cleanup and refresh. Now that we’re heading into summer, it’s that time again to pick a room and get to styling. I recently teamed up with Pier 1 to refresh my bedroom for the new season, and I thought I would share a few of my tips if you’re interested in doing the same.
It’s amazing what a fresh set of bedding can do for your room. Not only is it super comfy to slip in to, but a new look for your bed can instantly transform the style of the entire room. With summer almost here, I knew it was time to pack away my big thick winter blankets and find something on the lighter side. Luckily, Pier 1 has an amazing selection of bedding sets, and I was able to find the cutest White Quilt & Sham Set* (bonus points because it’s on sale!). I love how clean and pretty it looks, and it’s not a big bulky quilt so I’m able to use it comfortably during the warmer months. If you’re looking to switch up your bedding, I suggest going with something that can be used for a few different styles and for any season. That way, you’re able to get as much use out of it as possible.
A Cohesive Color Scheme
When planning a refresh for your bedroom (or any room in your home), sticking to a cohesive color scheme is incredibly important because it makes purchasing new items and decorating the entire space so much easier to plan out. For my bedroom refresh, I decided to stick to my love of neutrals and went with different variations of white paired with little pops of gold and black. It’s simple, yet beautifully classic, and I’ll easily be able to change up the look over the years because this color scheme is so versatile. When deciding on the colors you’re going to use in your bedroom, try to go with ones that evoke a sense of calm and serenity (this is where you sleep, after all). Also, try to keep things a little simple so you have plenty of design options, both now and in the future.
Adding Fun Little Details
This is definitely my favorite part of any home makeover/refresh. It’s a great way to infuse your personality and style into your home. For my bedroom, I wanted to keep things airy and light while incorporating a few feminine touches. I’m a huge fan of throw pillows (if you’ve seen pictures of my couches, you already know this), and I had a blast searching through all of the pillows available at Pier 1. I even got my hands on a Gold Mermaid Pillow* that was on sale! To go along with my white and gold theme, I picked up some Glimmer Strings Curtain Lights*, and used them to make a faux headboard behind my bed. They’re so dainty and cute, and I’m looking forward to using them as a backdrop in upcoming photos. It’s been so hard to find fresh peonies, so I decided to get a few faux stems* for one of my bedside tables. They’re perfect because they look really authentic, but I don’t have to worry about keeping them watered and buying new ones each week. The last little detail I decided to add isn’t exactly a decor item, but when I saw these Elizabeth Monogram Mugs*, I knew I had to get one. I usually have a cup of tea or juice nearby, so why not have a pretty mug to store my drinks instead?
This has seriously been the most fun home project I’ve worked on to date. Pier 1 has an amazing selection of furniture and decor items, and they’ve helped make my bedroom a dreamy little oasis that I’m absolutely in love with (as if getting out of bed wasn’t hard enough, haha). If you’re looking to refresh a room in your home, I highly suggest shopping your local Pier 1 for cute home decor and accessories!
