If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I used to do a monthly “Makeup Edit” post showcasing the contents of my makeup bag for the month. While I always loved those posts, it became a bit repetitive and I felt like I was forcing myself to throw a bunch of different products in my bag so I would have new things to write about for the month rather than sticking to what I actually wanted to use. Truth is, I’m the type of girl that will keep the same products in her makeup bag for months at a time, so in the end that type of feature just didn’t work out for my blog. I still want to show what I’ve been keeping in my makeup bag though, so I’ve decided to make this post more of a seasonal thing rather than every month.
Right now, I’ve been enjoying a lighter makeup menu, and have been keeping my makeup pretty natural and dewy with some subtle hints of pink. I feel like it’s the perfect look for spring, and is pretty easy to do which is great for rushed mornings (I’m not a morning person, so they’re always rushed). My base products have been fairly simple, starting with Urban Decay’s Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion to prime my face and blur out my pores. Next I apply the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm in Snow Glow with either my fingers or a damp beauty blender (depending on how much time I have for my makeup). This helps even out my skin and covers any minor imperfections, and then I use Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral to conceal anything major like breakouts or dark circles.
For my eyes, I’ve been sticking to a simple yet classic look that can be applied rather quickly. I start off with Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige and blend that out all over the lid with my finger (since it’s just a tad bit darker than my natural skin tone, it gives a nice contoured look without being too obvious). Most days I’ll just follow that up with some of the Pink Dust Waterproof Gel Eyeliner Noir* on my waterline and tightline, but if I’m wanting to jazz things up a bit I’ll add a simple wing using Pixi’s Lash Line Ink Pen*. Since I always forget to curl my lashes and never keep a curler in my makeup bag, I’ve been using Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara. This is an incredible little mascara that actually lifts and curls my lashes all on it’s own, so it’s a wonder for on-the-go.
The rest of my face is where the pops of pink com into play. I’m absolutely in love with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, and have been using Mood Exposure like crazy for the past few months. It’s a really pretty mauve pink that suits my features well, especially when paired with a little Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight dusted on my cheekbones. Lastly, I’ll swipe on some of the LORAC Alter Ego Lip Gloss in Duchess* all over my lips for a glossy pink pout that only takes seconds. Since my lips have been drier lately, cream lipsticks and glosses like this have been lifesavers.
