17 Quotes To Live By This Year

I know we’re already a month into 2017, but I’m still in that “new year, new me” mindset. Each year, I try to pick out one main theme to focus on. For 2017, I’m focusing on overall wellness and personal development. My goal is to improve myself in the areas that I feel need some work. I love collecting inspirational quotes, and decided to make myself a list of 17 to keep in mind throughout the year as a way to help with my personal development. Doing so allows me to stay inspired and focused, plus I just think it’s good for the sake of being more intentional. What I like to do is write these quotes on little notepapers and leave them scattered around my apartment – on the bathroom mirror, the front of the fridge, my desk, etc. That way, I am more likely to be reminded of them on a regular basis. Here are the quotes I’ve chosen to live by for 2017:

  1. Work smarter, not harder
  2. Start every day with a grateful heart
  3. The reason why we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel
  4. Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire
  5. Do all things with kindness
  6. Even our worst days only have 24 hours
  7. The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday
  8. Ask yourself if what you’re doing today will get you closer to where you want to be tomorrow
  9. God meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be
  10. Humility will open more doors than arrogance ever will
  11. Sometimes our expectation of perfection stops our celebration of progress
  12. Live less out of habit and more out of intent
  13. Don’t be afraid to change – you may lose something good but you may gain something better
  14. Very little is needed to make a happy life
  15. Admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own
  16. Open your mouth only if what you’re going to say is more beautiful than silence
