A Christmas Party Makeup Menu

This weekend marks the kickoff of the Christmas festivities for many people, so I thought I would share the makeup I plan on wearing for my family’s Christmas Eve party. I’ve put a fair bit of thought into how I want to do my makeup this year. I love the classic cat eye and red lip look, but I want something extra festive so I’ve decided to add a bit of shimmer everywhere I can. The result is a makeup look that I’m super excited to wear for my Christmas Eve festivities.

To start off, I’ll be making sure my face is nice and primed. After moisturizer, I’ll be using the NARS Radiance Primer to give me a soft and dewy canvas to work with. To stick with the glowy theme, I’m going to use a base duo that I’ve been quite a fan of lately – the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation in Porcelain and Colourpop’s No Filter Concealer in Fair 5. Together, these give me a nice, even base without looking cakey, and the finish feels quite light.

To give my cheeks a bit of color and definition, I’ll be using Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Dusk. For this look, I don’t want too much color on my skin so my eyes and lips can be the focal point. This blush is perfect because it helps define my cheekbones without being super obvious, and warms up my complexion just a bit. For a blinding glow, I’m going all out with the Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter in Blinded By The Light (the perfect name, really). This gorgeous champagne highlight will work perfectly for this looks, and after a heavy dusting on the high points of my face I’m sure to be in competition with the Christmas tree star for best glow of the night.

The eyes are going to be the most fun part of the look to create. Using a bit of the lighter gray shade from the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown Girl Luxury Eyeshadow Palette, I’m going to very lightly smoke out my eyes, leaving about 2/3 of the lid bare so I can apply some of the Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow from Stila for a festive pop. I can’t decide between Diamond Dust or Kitten Karma, though I’m leaning slightly towards the silver since I think it would pair well with the gray (what do you guys think?). After that, I’ll be applying a thick coat of Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes Mascara in Glossy Black and a pair falsies to properly round out the eye look.

My lips are a bit of a no-brainer if you red my recent post about finding the perfect Christmas lip color. After swatching every red lip product I own, I decided to go with MAC’s Russian Red for my lip color of choice. First, I’ll be lining my lips with the NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red to give myself some boundary lines (I’m horrible at lining my lips evenly), and then I’ll go back in with Russian Red to fill everything in. Also, if I’m being completely honest, I’ll probably have to use a bit of concealer to fix any mistakes because I’m also bad at applying red lipstick without smudging it at least a little. And that’s it! My perfect Christmas party look. Classic, but with plenty of shimmer to jazz it up a bit.

Are you planning a special makeup look for any of your holiday festivities?
