Autumn will forever be my favorite season for makeup. I love playing around with all of the different colors that are deemed “too dark” for spring and summer. Taupes, grays, golds, mauves…be still my heart! This year, while experimenting with a few different eyeshadows and application techniques, I stumbled across a duo that creates an absolutely dreamy eye look for fall. The best part? It’s super easy to do and barely takes any time or effort at all!
First, I like to apply a basic eyeshadow primer to ensure my makeup stays in place and doesn’t crease by midday. For this, you can really use whatever you prefer. I’ve used everything from the e.l.f Eyeshadow Primer to Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion and they’ve all worked just fine. Once a primer is applied, I take the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia (a gorgeous bronze shade) on a dry shader brush and pack it all over the lid, going just slightly above the crease but not all the way up to the brow bone. Then, I’ll take a fluffy blending brush and blend out the edges to soften them, as well as smoking out a tiny bit of the shade along my lower lash line to add some depth. For this part, you could stop right there but if you’d like to make it look a little more glam, you can then wet your packer brush, go back in with the NARS eyeshadow, and dab a little bit of the now-wet shadow onto the middle of the lids for an extra pop. I love doing this when I know I’m going someplace a bit fancy or if I’m heading out for the evening to go to a movie or dinner.
The next step to finish this look is to take the L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte and apply a bit to the inner corners and brow bones, blending into the NARS shadow for a seamless look. There are two different ways you can do this, depending on what look you’re going for. If you’re wanting something soft and subtle, I suggest just using a basic brush. However, if you’re wanting more bang for your buck, definitely use your fingers. I don’t know why, but this is just one of those products that applies better with fingers than tools. I like to take some on the tips of my ring fingers and gently dab it into the inner corners of my eyes. When I do this, the shadow is absolutely blinding and it really helps make my eyes look open and awake. I do the same thing for right below my brows, and then will go back in with a fluffy brush to blend out if needed.
I’ve been wearing this duo a lot lately because it’s so easy to wear and can be tweaked here and there to change it a bit, depending on what look I’m wanting. The NARS eyeshadow is absolutely gorgeous and I love how it can be used wet or dry to create completely different finishes. I had been wanting to try these for such a long time, but after the whole cruelty-free scandal I thought I’d never get the chance. Luckily, a friend of mine and I decided to do a little makeup swap to clean out our stashes and she had a few she no longer wanted so I snatched them up quick. The L’Oreal offering has been a longtime favorite and staple to my makeup collection. The shade Iced Latte is such a gorgeous white champagne, and I really love the feel of these shadows despite being a little tricky to figure out at first. If you’re looking for a good budget eyeshadow that really packs a punch, I highly suggest these.
