50 Quick Tips For Growing Your Blog

There are so many tips and tricks on the internet about how to grow your blog and build a following, and it can definitely be a little overwhelming. A new blogger might find themselves thinking “where should I start?”. I’ve written several posts on the topic myself, but I thought it might be more helpful to share a whole list of the best blogging tips I’ve learned and have them all in one place for easier viewing.

  1. Write extremely detailed, interesting content that benefits your readers in some way
  2. Regularly share your posts on social media
  3. Plan your content ahead of time so you don’t miss a day when you want to post
  4. Leave genuine comments on other blogs in your niche
  5. Claim your blog on Bloglovin’ and include one of their widgets on your sidebar so readers can easily follow you
  6. Include a link to your blog on all of your social media and in your email signature
  7. Stick to a regular posting schedule so your readers know when to expect content from you (you don’t have to post every single day, but definitely post often)
  8. Take beautiful photos that are well lit, crisp, and eye-catching
  9. Write post titles that are interesting but also include relevant keywords that are likely to get searched (this helps with your blog’s SEO)
  10. Have a blog design that is both organized and stylish
  11. Don’t just sit back and expect things to happen – work hard and make them happen
  12. Use Pinterest-friendly images in your posts (tall pictures, bold colors, eye-catching text)
  13. Don’t be afraid to share all of your secrets
  14. Respond to the comments you receive to build a connection with your readers
  15. Guest post on similar blogs that have a large following
  16. Sponsor other blogs in your niche that have the type of readers you want, especially if the sponsorship includes an interview or post that will link back to your blog
  17. Update old posts with new information and pictures
  18. Schedule your blog’s social media updates each day so you can get more work done while still getting your content out there
  19. Spend time on social media actually being social – connect with readers and other bloggers, and make as many friends as possible
  20. Instead of trying to be everywhere possible, focus on the social media platforms where your target audience spends most of their time
  21. Spend time on your SEO (it will really pay off in the end)
  22. Speaking of SEO, make sure to name all of your photos with what they’re about, instead of a generic title like “img1027.jpg”
  23. Make it easy to share your posts (Pin It button, click-to-share buttons at the bottom of posts, etc)
  24. Use an editorial calendar to plan your content so you always know which post is coming next
  25. Come up with detailed blog goals, and plan actionable steps you can take to achieve each one
  26. Include a “Similar Posts” widget at the end of each blog post – this is a good way to get people to check out more of your work and will hopefully convert them into repeat readers
  27. Share your posts in group boards on Pinterest
  28. Link to other posts you’ve written that are relevant to the content you’re currently creating
  29. Take your blog, and yourself, seriously
  30. Know who your target audience is, and write with their needs in mind
  31. Make sure your blog layout/template is responsive so it’s easily viewable on phones and tablets, and shows up better on Google
  32. Social media moves pretty fast, so share your content multiple times a day so you can reach a larger audience
  33. Reach out to other bloggers in your niche for collaborations (like guest post-swapping)
  34. Share old posts on social media to drum up some new views
  35. Link to your most popular posts in your sidebar
  36. Include a “call to action” at the end of every post
  37. Write to be real and relatable – don’t try to always sound like you’ve got it all together or that everything is sunshine and rainbows 24/7
  38. Give things away for free – downloads, worksheets, giveaways, etc

  40. Put extra effort into the little details, it shows you care
  41. Write the kind of content you want to read

  43. The more you post, the more content you’ll have out on the internet for people to find
  44. Create a visually-inspiring space that will make people want to come back for more
  45. Share content from other bloggers on social media – not only is this a great way to “pay it forward”, but they might just share your stuff in return
  46. Make sure your website loads quickly and is easy to navigate
  47. Establish yourself as a leader in your niche by sharing valuable, unique content
  48. Write a personality-filled and descriptive “about” page so first-time readers can get to know the blogger behind the posts
  49. Join blog link ups to share your content with others
  50. When sharing your posts on social media, tag any brands/bloggers/businesses/etc that were mentioned (i.e. in a beauty product roundup, tag the brands mentioned)
