Once the colder weather hits, my skin goes into absolute crazy mode. Itchy, dry patches, a lackluster appearance, and a bumpy texture are all things I tend to deal with in the autumn and winter months. So, naturally, this calls for a change up to my daily skincare routine. It’s time to bust out the heavy creams and chemical exfoliants to battle all of my seasonal skin woes and ensure a glowing complexion.
To start off, I use the Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash from Origins to clean my face. I really enjoy this cleanser because it helps balance out my skin so well. It’s a moisturizing wash so my skin doesn’t feel dry afterwards, but it also helps balance out my t-zone so it stays nice and matte. After washing, I use the new Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go Pads* to help exfoliate my dry skin. These pads are absolutely amazing, and are pre-soaked in Pixi’s Glow Tonic – a chemical exfoliant that leaves your skin looking radiant and glowy. This stuff is seriously the holy grail of beauty products, and I was over the moon when I found out they are making pre-soaked pads now.
Next, it’s time for a serum. I don’t use one every single day, but when my skin is particularly congested, I’ve been using this serum from The Ordinary. This got a bit of press a few months ago for being the “miracle” serum that only costs $6. It does quite a good job clearing up my skin when I get the odd breakout, and the price just can’t be beat. They have different serums depending on what your skin needs, so definitely check them out for affordable serums that actually work. After that dries, I pop on a bit of the Kiehl’s Creamy Under Eye Treatment under both eyes. Since my skin gets so dry in the winter, this really helps keep the delicate eye area hydrated and supple.
The last step in my current skincare routine is moisturizer. For the daytime, I use Jurlique’s Balancing Day Care Cream*. This is a bit richer that your average daily moisturizer, but it’s not too intense for daily wear. It’s also a balancing formula, which I love because it works so well with the Origins face wash. My nighttime moisturizer of choice has been the Aveeno Positively Radiant Night Cream. This is so nourishing and smells lovely, which is a nice treat to the nose right before bed. I always wake up the next morning with beautifully soft skin after using this, and it soaks into my skin rather quickly so I never have to worry about it messing up my pillow while I’m sleeping.
