Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in Celebrated is my favorite for this look – it’s a warm pinky nude color that adds a beautiful flush to the cheeks. Over top of this and up onto the cheekbones, I recommend adding a shimmery highlighter. My favorite highlighter of all time is MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle because it adds such a fantastic glow to the skin without having big chunky pieces of glitter in it. As a final touch, dust some highlighter down the middle of your forehead, bridge of the nose, and center of the chin.
For the eyes, keep things really clean and classic. I like using a champagne eyeshadow, like L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte, all over the lid and up to the brow bone. This makes for a really fresh, wide awake eye look that takes no time or effort at all (plus, who doesn’t love sparkling eyes for New Year’s?). A classic cat eye pairs up wonderfully with champagne eyes, and Pixi’s Cat Eye Ink* is literally the easiest way to achieve this look with minimal mistakes, if any. After the liner has dried a bit, curl your lashes and add a few coats of a volumizing mascara. I’ve yet to perfect my false lashes technique, so instead I use Lorac’s Pro + Fiber Mascara* for eyelashes that really “wow”.
Now onto the red lip portion of our party look. The first step that I believe is the most important is to line your lips with a red lip liner – now only does this stop your lip color from bleeding, but it also help the lipstick stay in place all night. My favorite is actually a cheap drugstore option from NYX in the color Hot Red. It does the job and doesn’t dry my lips out like other drugstore liners. I think it’s safe to say that every makeup brand has their signature red lipstick, but it really takes some trial and error before finding the right one for you. For the longest time I was unable to find one that didn’t look bluefish on me, and it wasn’t until I tried the IT Cosmetics Blurred Lines Lipstick in IT Girl* that I actually felt like I could rock a red lip. It’s a bold, yellow-toned red that’s super creamy and really makes a statement, which I think is exactly what you want to do at a NYE party.
How do you like to style a bold red lip?
