Glossier - Worth The Hype?
You know those beauty brands that you see on nearly every blog, and their items have peppered your wish list for ages. Well, Glossier is one of those brands for me. I've seen their products on all of my favorite beauty blogs (as well as all over Instagram), and my desire to try them finally got the best of me. I ordered a little bundle of goodies and have been using them for the past week, and I thought I'd share my thoughts and first impressions of the brand.
First, let's discuss this packaging. I'm absolutely head over heels for how gorgeous Glossier's products look. Everything is clean, white, and minimal, which helps them stand out from everything else on my skincare shelf (as well as being positively beautiful to photograph). My order came with Glossier's signature pink pouch, as well as some super cute stickers that I immediately used to decorate the bag. I love that they add this because not only is it fun, but the bag is padded and works so well for travel.
Now onto what I actually purchased. The item that went into my cart right away was the Milky Jelly Cleanser. This has been high on my wish list ever since it came out. Since I have dry, sensitive skin, I'm always on the lookout for skincare products that are gentle yet effective. I've been using this cleanser for the past week, and I have to say I'm more in love with it than I thought I'd be. The consistency is a milky gel that doesn't foam, so you don't have to worry about it drying out your skin. The cleanser gets rid of all makeup and dirt, but leaves your skin feeling plump and hydrated. The best part? It has the dreamiest scent of roses!
The next thing I picked up was the Haloscope Highlighter in Quartz. I'd heard rave reviews about this from a few of my favorite bloggers, and after looking up swatches I knew I had to get it. As fellow beauty obsessives, I'm sure you guys can understand the need for yet another highlighter. Right? Right. Well, this one did not disappoint. The ethereal glow this highlighter gives your skin is mesmerizing (I'm not kidding - every time I put it on, I can't help but stare at my cheekbones in the mirror for a few minutes). Since it's in stick form, you can easily apply this exactly where you want it, and if you accidentally put too much on (can that even happen?), just blend it out a bit with your fingers and you'll be good to go.
My final purchase was the Generation G Lip Color in Crush. There's a new "blotted lip" trend firing up lately and I'm already a huge fan. The Generation G balms give your lips a nice protective layer but still achieve this blotted look without having to actually blot anything. I'm loving the raspberry pink shade I got - it makes my lips look like a just got done eating a popsicle, which I think is so incredibly cute and on trend for summer. Also, these dry matte and stay in place almost all day long. It lasted through several drink and an entire meal, only coming off when I wiped my mouth after eating.
So, is Glossier worth the hype? Right now, I would say absolutely. While I've only tried three of the many products, I'm so blown away by the quality that I'd venture to say this is a brand worthy of being on everybody's beauty shelves (in simpler terms: Glossier, take my money!). This is an indie beauty brand that I will highly recommend in the future, and am excited to try more from.
