4 Tips For Feeling More Confident In Makeup
Makeup can be a pretty intimidating thing for some people, myself included. If you browse through online makeup trends and techniques, it can feel really overwhelming to not only learn how to do everything, but to be able to pull off each look as well. The cool thing about makeup though, is that you can use it however you want. Whether you like to rock a full face of bold makeup or just a hint of product to help enhance your natural features, the important thing is that you always feel confident with what you're doing.
Practice Makes Perfect...Eventually
The best piece of makeup advice I've ever received is that if you want to be able to do a certain technique, you have to practice it like crazy until it's second nature. If you really want to be able to contour but are horrible at it, then contour your face every single day until you get it right. It may take awhile to perfect a certain technique, but it's really important to keep practicing until you're happy with the results. Do Makeup For You
You'll never feel truly confident when wearing makeup if you're doing it for any other reason than because you like to. Maybe you feel pressured to wear a lot of makeup because everyone at school is, or you're trying to impress someone and feel like you're only worthy of their attention when you're all dolled up. Whatever the case may be, you're not going to feel happy in your makeup if the reason behind it is forced and not genuine. Wear makeup if it makes you happy. Don't do it for anything (or anyone) else.
Go At Your Own Pace
If you're new to wearing makeup (or have decided to start wearing more than you usually do), don't feel pressured to wear more than you're comfortable with. You don't have to go from bare faced to full faced overnight - incorporate a new technique or color here and there until you feel comfortable enough to add some more. Taking things at your own pace will help you feel more confident when trying new looks or colors.
Trends Aren't For Everyone
Just because something's popular right now does not necessarily mean you have to do it. If everyone is going crazy over lime green lipstick for the summer but you just don't like the look, then stick to your peaches and pinks. Trying to force yourself to pull off trends that you're not a fan of will only make you uncomfortable, and will take away some of the joy of wearing makeup. I think it can be super fun to experiment with new trends, colors, and techniques, but never force yourself to do one just for the sake of fitting in.
