The Streamlined Lip Wardrobe
Hey guys, I’m Kelsey, and I blog over at Beauty by Kelsey. I’m super excited for the opportunity to guest post here on Mandy’s blog as it’s one of my favorite reads! Anyway, my collection of lip products is far from streamlined, but lately I’ve been keeping a small makeup bag with me “just in case.” I still have more lip options than is probably necessary on a day to day basis, but I’m pretty much ready for anything. I’ll be bringing these six products with me everywhere - to work, while traveling, etc.
The Tinted Balm | This is always my most-used option. On an everyday basis, I don’t wear much makeup, so a tinted lip balm is my perfect lip product. It adds just a hint of color and a lot of hydration, something that I need as a lip balm addict. My favorites are the Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments from Fresh. I have a lot of the nude/neutral options, but Rose is my favorite. It adds the nicest flush to the lips that looks quite natural.
The Nude | When I’m not wearing a tinted lip balm, I’m probably wearing some sort of nude lipstick. My favorite nudes are of the sheer/creamy variety, as they’re the most comfortable and foolproof to apply. I love the MAC Lipstick in Patisserie - it’s a Lustre finish, so it’s got a little bit of shimmer in there to enhance the lips. It’s a favorite for sure.
The Neutral | I think a neutral lip option is necessary because sometimes you want something a little more noticeable than a nude, but you don’t want a full-on vampy lip, you know? I love Maybelline’s new range of nude lipsticks for any skintone. The shade Brown Blush is a perfect mauve-y brown shade that’s a few shades deeper than my natural lip color and looks really flattering. They have so many options in this range, so I’m sure there’s something for everyone!
The Bold | I don’t always wear bold lipsticks, but when I do, I like to use some kind of versatile option. I love the NARS Lipstick in Scarlet Empress because it’s not completely opaque, so it’s easy to build up the color to your desired level. It’s a beautiful berry red that looks just as incredible sheered out to more of a stain as it does built up to full opacity. NARS’s original lipsticks don’t get as much love as they should, so definitely check them out for your bold lip option.
The Extras | The four products mentioned above are absolute necessities for me if I want to be ready for any occasion, but sometimes I like to add in a couple extras, too. A lip liner that matches your natural lip shade is perfect because you can wear it with any lipstick, or on its own to help enhance your lip shape. The Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in 010 is my perfect match, but they have so many shades. They’re super creamy and yet last awhile, too. My last lip option I like to include is a clear lip gloss - like the lip pencil, it will go with anything and can completely change your look. My favorite clear gloss is from Glossier - it’s not super sticky, and yet it lasts such a long time and is quite moisturizing.
What lip product staples would you bring everywhere? And thank you so much to Mandy for giving me the opportunity to guest post!
