What's In My Bag + 5 Everyday Essentials

It's been quite awhile since I've shared a "what's in my bag?" post, so I thought it would be a good idea to give a little update. I always love these kinds of posts, probably because I'm nosy (haha) but also because I tend to get some helpful tips from them. Since I'm sure most of you are the same way, I've decided to jazz this post up with a few tips for some everyday essentials you should definitely be carrying in your bag.
The first thing I think is an absolute essential for everyone is bottled water. We all know the importance of staying hydrated, so keeping a bottle of fresh water on hand at all times is pretty much a given. My favorite brand is smartwater®, which you can find on the water aisle of your local Target. Their bottles are sleekly designed so they fit well in my bag, plus the water itself tastes so incredibly good. This brand is a recent discovery for me, and I'm completely obsessed with their water. Other bottled waters always seem to have a weird mineral taste to them, but smartwater is so pure. The unique thing about their process is that they use vapor distilling and electrolytes for taste, so you truly get a refreshing experience, similar to drinking fresh water from a cloud. If you haven't tried smartwater before, I highly recommend it!
While we'd all love to have hours in the morning to get ready, that's just not a luxury for most. This is why I think having a small about of simple, everyday makeup in your bag is a must. It's perfect for throwing on a quick face before school or work, as well as minor touchups throughout the day. I like to keep things quick and easy, and usually just rely on a concealer, cream shadow, mascara, blush, and tinted lip balm. Takes only minutes to apply, but makes a world of difference.
Gum or Mints
This one seems like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how many times I'm out and about and someone asks for some gum. Lately, I've been buying the packs that come in big plastic containers. This way they won't get all squashed in the bottom of my bag, plus they tend to last a lot longer than standard packages.
You never know the next time you'll be stuck on public transportation or waiting at the doctor's office, so I think it's always a good idea to have some sort of reading material in your bag for just such occasions. I usually have my Bible or current devotional on hand, but you can also toss in something as simple as the latest edition of your favorite magazine or even an adult coloring book.
Notebook + Pen
I never go anywhere without making sure I have a notebook and pen with me. They're two things that may seem extremely simple, but are actually incredibly useful. Writing down lists, to-do's, directions, blog post ideas, plans, goals...the possibilities are endless. I'm a total stationery hoarder, so I never have to worry about not having enough journals and notebooks to use. If you're not sure where to get some cute ones though, check out this post I did on my favorite shops for pretty stationery.
