Earlier this month, I shared a post about getting the chance to try Freshpet and Hello Fresh for the first time. For the past few weeks, my little pups and I have been trying new meals and eating a fresh, healthy diet, and the entire experience has been really fun. I've been able to get into the kitchen and actually cook, a passion of mine that I neglect far too often. Dinnertime has had a renewed sense of fun, not just for me but for my two yorkies as well. While I've been getting creative with Hello Fresh meals, they've been able to enjoy their own Freshpet dinners which have quickly become their favorite part of the day.
Sammy and Roxie's favorite dish is by far the Freshpet Select Slice and Serve Rolls. These are packed full of healthy proteins, along with fresh vegetables and grains. Since yorkies are so small, it can be hard for us to find soft foods for them that aren't too big that they'll choke (these two inhale their dinners, it's quite the sight). The cool thing about these rolls is that you can slice and cut them into the perfect portion sizes with ease, so I never have to worry about my pups eating too much or choking on large bites.
I love knowing that what I'm feeding my dogs is actually good for them and doesn't include any weird ingredients. I know they love it too - it's evident when they do little dances while I'm preparing their dinner because they're just so excited to eat this delicious dog food. They also switch plates about halfway through eating to see what the other person has. It's the funniest thing ever!
As for my family's meals, we've been able to eat healthier and try exciting new meals with fresh, vibrant ingredients thanks to Hello Fresh. I've been loving the ease of having all of my ingredients delivered right to my door. It's eliminated the multiple trips to the grocery store we'd usually have to take throughout the week to shop for specific items for meals, and I'm able to save time during my day because all of the ingredients are already portioned out and prepped for each meal. Cooking a delicious dinner for my family has been easier than ever (almost every meal we've tried has taken 30 minutes or less in the kitchen), and we've actually discovered a bunch of new recipes to add to our dinner repertoire. Each of the meals that we've sampled from Hello Fresh have been exciting and new without being too over the top or bold for our tastes. There have been some updates to old favorites, and these recipes have actually gotten us to think outside of the box a bit when it comes to cooking and mixing flavors.
The latest meal that I made were the Chicken & Pineapple Quesadillas. Look at those colors! You know your meal is going to be a hit when your veggies are vibrant. There's been a long-standing debate on whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza, but allow me to at least confirm one thing: it definitely belongs in quesadillas. The flavor combination of sautéed pineapple, onion, and peppers is out of this world, and it pairs so nicely with seasoned chicken. One thing I really love about Hello Fresh meals is that they give you plenty of room to experiment and get creative if you want. I decided to jazz up the meal further by adding some sliced avocado on the side and chopping some fresh green onions for the sour cream garnish, and they both complimented the meal perfectly.
Final thoughts...both brands have been amazing, and I've seriously loved working with them for the month. My pups have been loving the healthy meals from Freshpet, and my family and I are completely obsessed with Hello Fresh's delicious dinners. If you get a chance to try either out, I highly recommend doing so. Your tummy (and your pet's) won't regret it!
