One makeup product that seems to be a big hit or miss with beauty obsessives is lipstick - you either love it or you hate it. For me, I couldn't stand the stuff as a teenager but have become a big fan in my twenties (especially of liquid lipsticks). I think the big problem I had with it when I was younger was how dry it made my lips feel. Of course, I was buying the cheapest drugstore lipsticks that my little middle school self could afford, but I digress. If you're looking for some pretty lip colors but don't like the feel of lipstick (or the preparation it takes to get it to look perfect), here are some of my favorites that feel great on the lips and are completely effortless.
Just a wash of color
Most days only call for a simple wash of color, and for that I usually reach for tinted balms and sheer glosses. I'm a huge fan of the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, specifically shades Rose and Petal. These are super hydrating (perfect for this season!) and the colors are gorgeous. For a more affordable option, I recommend the L'Oreal Color Riche Balms. These are also very buttery on the lips, and for a fraction of the cost. If you're a fan of products that plump your lips up, Soap & Glory makes a gloss called Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL that stings like the devil and gives you a really full pout. I love the color Pinkwell - it's a really pretty pink that looks so good on everybody.
Higher color payoff
If I'm wanting a more opaque lip but don't feel like messing with lipstick, I like to wear creamy glosses that have a high color payoff without any of the hassle. NARS makes lip glosses that are absolutely heavenly - they're so creamy and glossy, and the color Turkish Delight is the prettiest pale pink for every day wear. If you don't want to spend quite that much on a lip gloss, then there are two drugstore options that I highly recommend. First are the NYX Butter Glosses, a longtime fave for their buttery feel and large shade range. I also love Maybelline's Color Elixir Lip Colors because they feel a bit more luxurious, plus they're super shiny and glossy.
