Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Foundation Review
A couple months ago, I decided to make the conscious effort to use up the beauty products I already have before buying anything new. I haven't bought new makeup in several weeks (even though I've been so tempted a few times), so you can imagine how excited I was when a box of goodies from Estée Lauder showed up at my front door. It was like Christmas morning opening the package, and inside were the brand new Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick Foundations*.
Stick foundations have kind of become the next big thing, but I haven't been able to use them as much because the thicker consistency doesn't work well with my skin's texture. This new offering, however, combines the ease of a stick foundation with the hydration of a liquid base, making it ideal for people with dry skin (as well as for travel and quick touch ups). The coverage is light-to-medium, depending on how much you apply, and it's very lightweight. After application, my skin had a nice, healthy glow to it, which I was a big fan of. I think this foundation will be great for fresh faced looks and to give your complexion a good even appearance. The Cushion Stick comes a in a decent array of colors, mostly focusing on light and medium skin tones. There is a dark chocolatey shade, but I still feel that they could've offered more options for dark-skinned gals. Hopefully they'll create more options in the future. I was happy to find a shade that was light enough for my pasty complexion, and even more thrilled when it didn't oxidize after an hour or two.
To apply, you simply twist up the bottom of the bottle until the foundation starts pooling at the top of the sponge tip (if too much product comes out at first, simply twist in the opposite direction for it to go back down - such a great packaging design!). Next, just dot the foundation around your face, gently buff in using the sponge, and then blend out using the sponge or your fingers for an even, glowing look. I'm usually not a fan of built-in sponge applicators for liquid makeup because they tend to get so dirty and there's no easy way to clean them, but Estée Lauder has really thought of everything for this new product. The sponge tip screws off so you can quickly clean it with warm water and mild soap, and then just pat it dry and twist it back on.
I have some light skin discoloration and scarring from bug bites on this arm, and the foundation covered it up nicely without being thick or cakey. It's an extremely lightweight foundation that provides hydration to the skin while evening everything out for a really nice overall glow. Thankfully, it doesn't settle into any fine lines (a huge pet peeve I have with liquid foundation), and you honestly can't tell you're even wearing a base with this foundation. All in all, a fantastic new product that I'm definitely a fan of!
What do you think of the new Cushion Stick Foundations from Estée Lauder? Is it something you're wanting to try?
